Garden's Origins
Our Beginnings
Our journey began in 2022, when a group of like-minded community members came together to plan and advocate for a community garden in Mooroolbark. We decided that rather than an allotment-based system, members agreed on a communal model of gardening, working the land collectively and sharing the produce among participants and with the wider community. The concept uses communal food growing as a vehicle to deliver broad social impact, addressing issues around social isolation, food insecurity and equitable access to public land.
